In an effort to gain free admission on Saturday afternoon, an attempt was made to burn a hole in the wooden fence. Hidden by a hedge, someone set fire to the pickets, but the alarm was given, and the curator (Mr G.Chisholm), with the aid of a policeman, quickly subdued the flames with buckets of water. - The Age 13-Aug-1934
